The new 2017 Opel Mokka has been growing in strength ever since it debuted in its class back in 2012. With its elevated seating position, sporty look, and perfect size, the Mokka continues to be an appealing addition to the existing compact SUV segment. In fact, with over half a million units sold in Europe alone, there’s no doubt that it appeals even to the zeitgeist. With the 2017 model now on its release list, Opel hopes to soar its popularity even further. Expect its debut during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show after which its release date will be known for sure.
Opel Mokka Is A Rising Star
According to credible sources, the Opel Mokka 2017 is set to become one of the best-connected all-terrain eye-catchers in its class thanks to its fresh iconic exterior, new generation infotainment systems, and a new interior acting as a host to this segment’s best technologies and comfort necessities. In recent years, the Mokka has garnered quite a substantial following partly due to its genuine off-roading abilities, adventurous sporty flair, and stylish exterior designs.
The new model will be the first model offered by Opel to set the tone for all future Mokka-line products. The Opel Mokka X, for instance, is set to get even more adventurous, and rugged. The exterior isn’t the only area that the new model boasts about, the interior also is a design masterpiece. Recent spy pictures show a completely redesigned interior that is host to abundant technologies and features.
When To Expect Opel Moka To Be Released
While information regarding the Mokka release date and price are still under wraps for now, rumors trending in the compact SUV segment allege the new model will cost around $26,000 – fair price considering its competition. However, the price vantage might be compromised once a buyer selects the available options. It is set to go for sale sometime in the spring of 2017, at least according to sources in the know.
2017 Opel Mokka Exterior Design And Colors
The exterior design, to say the least, comes with a bold stance. Similar to the outgoing model, the new Mokka comes with a wing-shaped horizontal front grille, LED daytime running lights and foglights, less plastic inserts, and more elegant and precise sculpted surfaces. The rear features subtle design changes including a stouter stance. It also features athletic and muscular lower body lines, elegant and sculpted traits, and additional colors. The Absolute Red and Amber Orange make the latest addition to the palette.
New Opel Mokka Lighting
Plenty of innovative technology is available. To start off with, the new model is the first model in its class to offer adaptive forward lighting LED lamps. This system enables the best lighting regardless of the driving environment thanks to the automatic AFL LED system. Nine lighting patterns are available such as tourist mode, country light, town light, maneuvering light, a cornering and curve light, and a stop mode light. According to Opel, the new light system is reliable, accurate, and offers visual comfort, as the driver doesn’t need to keep adjusting the lighting for every driving situation.
Big Changes On 2017 Opel Mokka Interior
The interior also sees some changes over the previous model. For one, the interior ambiance has completely changed. The instrument panel is more precise and sharper in its execution. It also appears purer and simpler than before. The dashboard is all-new and Opel says it has derived its design inspiration from the new Astra. The smartphone integration system now takes most of what used to be operated by clattery control buttons. It might be an understatement to say that the new center stack has been redeveloped especially if you have some insights of the previous model’s interior design.
Just like the 2017 Opel Astra or the Opel Mokka X, the regular Opel Mokka will also be available with all Opel OnStar services. Smartphone enabled connectivity will be offered by the IntelliLink feature that features both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features.
Along with all the features mentioned above, the new model will also make no concessions on its comforts. Similar to most Opel models, the new Opel Mokka 2017 was tested and certified to have ergonomic seats. Again, there’s no doubt that the outstanding comfort features, off-road capabilities, outstanding connectivity, and superior powertrain lineup make the new Mokka superior amongst its class.
It is rumored that the new model will come boasting of a three cylinder 1.6L turbocharged engine capable of making 115 horsepower. Other possible choices – as Opel is yet to make the powertrains known – include the 140-horsepower – generating 1.7L turbocharged engine, and the 130-horsepower – producing 1.7L diesel engine.
Safety ratings are yet to be offered by the NHTSA, however, given the model’s immaculate specs, we expect perfect crash tests scores which will further underpin its superiority. More features will be available on its release date.
