Better Every Year – New 2017 Cadillac ATS-V Review

2017 Cadillac ATS-V review

There is no doubt the 2017 Cadillac ATS-V offers a sizzling performance and daily-driver comfort. With strengths such as an all-new status, an impressive handling, a civilized ride, and a formidable acceleration, the new model is undoubtedly a worthy rival to Germany’s established high-performance sedans and coupes. The ATS-V release date should be expected sometime in the second quarter of 2017.

Continuation Of Hostility

The first phase when the ATS-V was attacking Germany’s greatest sport sedans was back in 2004 when the original model had just debut in the market. At first, however, the ATS-V found it difficult to rival German-branded vehicles like the BMW M3 due to the latter’s superiority in agility, nimble and light handling, peach weight, and impressive interior refinement.

Fast forward to 2017 and the top-dog CTS-V is a serious contender in the midsize segment, offering serious rivalry to staid brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. In fact, it offers even better refinement, stylish looks, and technologies relative to its rivals in the same price range.

Supreme Handling

One of the most notable strength the ATS-V offers is handling, which is undeniable exceptional relative to other models in its class. Supreme composure is offered by the Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers which become particularly useful whenever you’re in need of impressive compliance or when blasting around a racetrack.

V6 Against German Cars

As a general rule, if you’re competing against German rivals, you need to, of course, pack some serious performance under the hood. As such, the new model comes fitted with a 3.6L V6 engine rated at 445 pounds-ft. of torque and 464 horsepower. According to Cadillac, 2017 Cadillac ATS-V 0-60 mph only takes about 3.8 seconds.

Space The Final FLAWntier

On the downside, though, the ATS-V’s diminutive dimensions aren’t as versatile as they are rewarding on the road. The backseat space is very compact and tall passengers in particular will find it uncomfortable. The trunk volume is also modest relative to what the competition offers. Moreover, the CUE interface, according to some, is generally slow and unintuitive at times.

Therefore, it would be wise to check what the competition offers before making the ultimate decision. Some of its alternatives include the Lexus RC-F, the Mercedes-AMG C63, and the BMW M3/M4.

The 2017 ATS-V is offered as either a four-passenger sedan or a five-passenger sedan. Both models are offered in a single well-equipped trim model. The 2017 Cadillac ATS review is offered elsewhere on this blog.
