With over 500,000 cars sold since its market launch six years ago, it’s a clear sign that the Audi A1 and Audi A1 Sportback popularity isn’t a fluke. Rumors of the 2017 Audi A1 have been floating around for a while now, and guess what, A1 aficionados, the new Audi A1 debut is scheduled to take place sometime this fall!
Based on teaser photos and spy pics, we’ve prepared a well-detailed review below that aims to demystify most speculations about the latest Audi A1. Likely release date, exterior/interior redesigns, pricing estimates, and engine specs are covered. Enjoy the read!
Even More Beautiful And Safer Than Ever Before
Although not clearly visible, the Audi A1 sports several changes on most of its facets especially considering that it wasn’t offered last year. The new model gets even more attractive, with benefits to both the exterior and interior design. Fresh colors and trim elements give it an even more fascinating, sporty demeanor. Its body has been made more rigid, the wheelbase shorter, therefore making the A1 more maneuverable and agile whilst on the road.
One area that Audi has already confirmed is poised for major updates is the safety department. The new kit will now include features such as clever LED matric headlights, pedestrian detection, traffic jam assistance, rear-cross traffic alert, active lane keeping assistance, city braking, and blind spot monitor. All models will also get the Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display as an optional equipment. The higher-performance version – the 2017 S3 – will however get it as a standard accessory.
One Trim Shorter
Unlike before when it was offered in three trim levels – Attraction, Ambition, and Ambiente – the new 2017 Audi A1 will now be offered in only two trims – Sport and Luxury. Although the segment has progressed in leaps and bounds in terms of the offered technologies and designs, Audi hopes that with standard equipment roster than includes – xenon headlights, rear air vents, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, aluminum-look interior trim, and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, the new 2017 Audi A1 will be able to appeal to shoppers.
Diesel and gasoline – are offered, with power ranging from 90 horsepower to 192 horsepower. Audi hasn’t mentioned whether or not the new 2017 A1 will be offered to other markets other than Europe. It is highly unlikely that the Audi A1 will be offered for the US market.
2017 Audi A1 Release Date & Price
Although the pricing figures are speculative, they act as a guide to what should be expected. 1.0 TFSI will probably go for sale for around $35,000, the 1.4 TFSI COD – $39,100, 2.0 TFSI – $44,000, Sportback – $62,000, and the 2.0 TFSI Quattro – $47,000. The high-performance version – Audi S3 – will probably go for sale for around $65,000. Its release date should be expected sometime in mid-2017.
2017 Audi A1 Exterior Is Bigger?
Both the Audi A1 and Audi A1 Sportback designs are appealing with their sporty lines. As you can see from the spy pics, it is difficult to tell whether or not the dimensions have changed. Our best guess however is they’ve changed slightly. What can’t however be gainsaid is the even sportier design both models feature.
Returning again for the new model is the S line exterior package. Some of the areas the S Line package modifies include the diffuser insert, bumpers, tailpipes, side sill trims, air intakes, and the Singleframe grille. The exterior design is rounded off by the aluminum-look applications on the side sills and wheel arch, rear spoiler, and rear apron.
More Modern 2017 Audi A1 Interior
The interior of both the Audi A1 and the Audi A1 Sportback are sophisticated and sporty at the same time. As is evident from the pictures, the layout seems unchanged from the previous iteration. However, the control and audio controls, infotainment system, and the material quality have improved significantly. Unfortunately the details are light at this moment in time, as Audi is yet to announce the exact changes to technologies. Be sure to check back on its release date for updates.
Two trims will be offered for the 2017 Audi A1: Luxury, and Sport. The Audi A1 Black Edition review is offered separately.
As previously told, the new model will offer up to six engines – diesel and gasoline, with power ranging from as low as 90 horsepower to as high as 192 horsepower. More updates should be available in some few weeks.
What Are The Safety Updates?
Safety of passengers is one area that Audi doesn’t take lightly. As such, we should expect the new model to come equipped with latest safety and driver-assisting technologies like those offered for its rivals. Details of its crash impact assessment will be updated here as soon as such info is made public by the relevant agency.
